The Sicilian town where I live and which is now my home is called Mazzarino. Ruled by Nobles and steeped in history, the town has amazing ancient architecture, medieval windy cobbled streets, grand buildings and 13 old churches. Not only is its history and style enchanting, but also its community spirit. Known in the surrounding areas for the festivals that it holds throughout the year, the town comes alive thanks to the passion and tremendous effort the locals put in. They say it’s been over 20 years since they last held a Carnival Festival and it’s hard to believe that this is only its 2nd year in the making given the fantastic professional floats on show. Originally an Italian festival just for kids to dress up, now it’s the whole town – young and old – who got in on the act….me included! Here are my highlights!
Ciao for now,
