Breast Cancer Ireland’s 3rd “Strictly Against Breast Cancer” Black Tie Gala last Saturday night rolled out their pink carpet and brought Irish TV personalities and Cancerians together to have a dance off and compete for the coveted privilege of first place to raise funds for Breast Cancer research.
With Nicky Byrne as the host and Emma Hannigan, Eoghan McDermott, Lorraine Keane and Gerald Keane as the judges, the dancers’ dedication shone from the stage as their happy feet didn’t miss a step and their charitable hearts didn’t miss a beat from their impeccable choreography that they spent months perfecting. As they twirled on stage, we sat back and relaxed over a three course meal with wine, enjoying our sequined view and bopping our shoulders to the groovy tunes.
My Coast outfit: Glitzy and Sparkly! Thanks to Emer and Fionnuala at Coast St Stephen’s Green for styling me!
Along with an expected 1,000 guests, my sister Aileen and I arrived at Dublin’s Convention Centre to be welcomed to a Champagne reception and lots of mingling.
We made friends with our delightful table as we all dined under atmospheric hues of pink which added an intergalactic feel to the room.
It was time for the dance off! Various styles from Salsa to Samba, Bollywood to Rumba, Tango to Quickstep, kept us entertained and kept every dance unique.
Now it was time for the voting….decisions decisions!!! Congratulations to Paula McClean and Stephen Hegarty whose sensual tango stole the night.
Before the live band The Sugar Cubes started playing, it was time for some bathroom selfies!
It was lovely to see personal touches around the dancefloor, some guys wore pink dickie bows while this fellow had a jacket made of photos of his mother who sadly passed away from breast cancer. A lady at my table had Breast Cancer ribbons printed on her nails. Beautiful touches.
Here is the “Selfie Hall of Fame”, a collection of pics from the night including Nicky Byrne, George McMahon, Jenny Dixon, Emma Hannigan, Elaine Crowley and lots more fabulous people!
